In an ultra-competitive sector, restaurant franchises are redoubling their efforts to appeal to increasingly volatile consumers. To adapt, they must constantly innovate to boost their performance and align themselves with new consumer trends. This transformation is accompanied by new digital tools, such as ordering kiosks, mobile applications, online ordering, Qr codes and more.

Here are 7 examples of franchises that have integrated digitalization into their restaurants.

1. BCHEF

Launched in 2014, BCHEF is a fast-food network specializing in bagels, burgers and salad'Bowls. In just a few years, the brand has succeeded in establishing itself as an alternative to fast-food giants with the opening of more than 70 franchised restaurants. BCHEF is proud to report a two-fold increase in average sales between 2017 and 2022.

Julien Perret, founder of BCHEF, is convinced that digital is an essential lever for developing his franchise's business and managing his restaurants. He encourages his franchisees to digitalize their outlets, by installing full-featured, touch-sensitive cash registers. In this way, they can easily check whether new products, new menus and new services are equally successful throughout the territory. With dashboards, they can check whether sales targets have been met, compare them with previous years, and track the evolution of online ordering.

In 2019, BCHEF continues its digital transition and equips BCHEF franchised restaurants with ordering terminals. The following year, the brand launches click and collect with a delivery model managed in-house. In 2021, BCHEF's franchised restaurants will offer a digitalized customer experience to make the customer experience more fluid.

2. Day

In 2018, Jour, a specialist in "eating well" with healthy, made-to-measure salads, opened its first fully digitalized outlet in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. Customers discover a digitalized customer journey, with touch terminals enabling them to place their order in just a few clicks. Objective no. 1: reduce queues and ensure greater fluidity, particularly during rush periods. Franchise managers have also observed an increase in the average basket, thanks to suggestions at the end of the order, strategically designed for each moment of the day.

In 2023, the franchise goes one step further by launching digital ordering and a new loyalty program. Jour is also offering a click-and-collect and online ordering solution in its thirty or so restaurants in France, Switzerland and Reunion Island. The system is completed by a digital canteen concept.

3. Big Fernand

Big Fernand is a perfect example of howmulti-channel business models can beused to enhance the customer experience (welcome, service, conviviality). On the contrary, digitalization has enabled the brand to forge closer links with its customers, notably through night delivery from midnight to 2am, the opening of dark kitchens in the Paris region, etc. Big Fernand has also developed its own online ordering system via a dedicated digital platform available on cell phones.

4. Chicken Time

The Chicken Time franchise has chosen to adapt to the digital age, with the aim of facilitating the work of its franchisees and satisfying as many customers as possible.

To achieve this, the franchise offers all its outlets the click and collect system, as well as the installation of an easy-to-update in-store digital ordering terminal . These digital solutions considerably reduce customer waiting times, optimize team organization and offer dynamic content.

In the kitchen, a production screen connected to the cash register automatically displays incoming orders, improving the restaurant's rhythm and avoiding preparation errors.

5. Focaccia Club

Jing Ren, the founder of Focaccia Club, is clear about his ambitions: he wants to become the number 1 focaccia brand in France. To realize this bold vision, the experienced entrepreneur is convinced that mastery of his brand identity is as important as mastery of the technical side. That's why he turned to the most complete and easy-to-deploy digital solution: the Innovorder POS system

"With just a few clicks, my network manager pilots all my restaurants, checking product performance and profitability. We have a global vision thanks to the various reports."

With increasing competition in the poke bowl healthy food segment, Pokawa wanted to strengthen its presence on platforms by expanding its offer and services.

To this end, the company has set up order terminals and a loyalty program to gain a better understanding of its customers' shopping habits and to increase the average basket. They attach great importance to collecting customer data to feed the CRM and gain a better understanding of their customers' behavior and purchasing patterns.

At the same time, Pokawa also launched its own app and invested heavily in live ordering. A fine example of success!

7. Ankka

Ankka is a fast-food service positioned in the salad bar segment. After opening ahead of schedule in 2009, Alain Duquesne is gradually introducing online ordering and ordering kiosks in his franchised restaurants, in order to continue building momentum. The aim: to pamper loyal customers while maintaining profitability.

To boost productivity and operational efficiency, Ankka decided to call on a single service provider: Innovorder. Thanks to its omnichannel digital solution, Innovorder deploys all its digital tools to optimize franchisee activity at every stage: order taking, cashing, preparation, management.
